More Than Just Dancers

What's the best gift out of the 12 Days of Christmas (aside from the five golden rings)?

Thinking about the gifts presented in “The 12 Days of Christmas”, the answer to me is obvious: the nine ladies dancing. In my mind, this is a group of girls that simply spin, leap, and plié around. But they are also my friends. When they aren’t dancing (because, hopefully, they take breaks), we would watch Christmas movies, crowd the kitchen as we try to make cookies together, and share giggly secrets at night in our matching pjs. And because they're dancers, I would assume they would always be down for a late-night music blasting session. Not only this, but I would get them to help me finally learn how to do a backflip, which is my New Year’s resolution. And, how cool would it be if I had a dance crew following me at all times? These nine ladies dancing would become my nine personal chefs, default friends, and homework helpers. How much better could it get? But most importantly, nine is my favorite number, so I’m honestly just hoping they’ll bring me good luck or something like that.

Next time you have to choose from the catalog of the 12 Days of Christmas to gift to someone, consider how the turtle doves could be used to deliver letters across town, or how the drummers could accompany Justin Beiber’s iconic version of “Drummer Boy” live. Maybe the maids a-milking or lords a-leaping will become the best gift they’ve ever received.
